About the Baththalangunduwa Island

Baththalangunduwa Island is a little island. The distance between the two ends of the longest and narrowest is between 500 meters and 500 kilometers. Wilpattu National Park is the nearest land to Baththalangunduwa Island at the top of the Kalpitiya Peninsula which looks like a hand on the map of Ceylon.

There is a naval base on this island. Going to the island is easy if you can take the food. Lunch can be packaged at the Kalpitiya Fisheries Harbor Canteen if required.

Baththalangunduwa Island is a great place to spend a night in a tent or fishing spot if you want to get there in a day. Its journey was a strange experience.

This archipelago, which can be described as a marvel of nature, is also a significant factor in the proposed tourism project in Kalpitiya. Fishing is the main livelihood on Baththalangunduwa Island. Innocent islanders who live by fishing live a different life on this island.

The island does not even have a bicycle for transportation. There is only a handcart to carry fishing gear. This island is a fishing island. A large number of fishing families live there. That's it. This is a nice trip for us but the people who live here are very tired.

The island also has a Catholic church and a temple. There are many religious rites associated with it.

Important things :
Take everything you need with you on the way. If you forget, you can't go back. Because there are no five-star hotels or shops here. Poor innocent fishing village. So don't forget to be a support to those people who are going to enjoy life. Come and spend a day in life to spend the night inside a tent. We kindly request you to protect these places as always and make sure not to cause any harm. Travel the country with love as a true Sri Lankan.
