About 18 km from Balangoda town on the A4 road towards Badulla you will come across the Nanperial area. The starting point of the Nanperial Road is called Nanperial Junction and starting from that junction the Nanperial area takes you to a different beautiful world. Going up this road we can see the Baker's Bend, the viewing point.
Located at an elevation of 1700 m (5000 ft) above sea level, this scenic spot offers a breathtaking view of the Butterfly Reservoir on a clear day. But during the rainy season the place is covered with fog. I The temperature in the place is also very low.
Larger bends in the Nanperial area are numbered, and Baker's Bend is the 23rd bend. This area has a changing climate. This road runs through the tea estates and is very beautiful. That beauty is further enhanced by the small waterfalls along this route. There is a rumor about how Bakers Bend got this name. Samuel Baker, the founder of Nuwara Eliya, also known as Little England, died in a car accident at this location. This is why the place is called Baker's Bend.
