Bothale Walawwa

Botale Walawwa is the father of the nation. Senanayake's palace. This palace is located in the upper bottle area of Mirigama. He is the first Prime Minister of our country to be born in this palace.

Don Steven alias DS Senanayake was born on October 20, 1884 at Botale Palace. He was the fourth child of Don Spater Senanayake Mudali and Catherine Elizabeth Perera Kumarihamy of Kehella Walawwa. This large single storey house was built in 1865 by Don Spater Senanayake himself. He is also married in this house.

The land in this bottle estate is 600 acres. The government took everything from the Land Act. Now there are less than 50 acres. The bottle kitchen is too big. There were four or five wood stoves at that time. It is said that even the village where the paddy box made by Mr.'s father had enough rice to feed.

After the death of Don Spater Senanayake in 1907, his tomb bottle was erected in the palace grounds. The statue of Senanayake is in front of this palace. You need permission to visit this palace.
