Madol Duwa Island

Madol Duwa Island

Description

Madol Duwa is located in the middle of the Koggala Lagoon. This lagoon is also unique. It is the only natural lagoon in Sri Lanka and has no tributaries or waterfalls. The lagoon is filled only with naturally occurring water.

The three or four coconut trees in Madol Duwa remind us again and again of Upali and Jinnah. There are several other islands around Madol Duwa. Now those who come to Madol Duwa have the opportunity to drink Kurumba. There is one uncle on this island who sometimes sells coconuts.

As you climb to the top of the island you will find a seagull and a deserted well. But sad to say, this well has become a garbage can of polythene cans.

Anyone approaching Madol Duwa by boat can see the ferry hidden among the mangrove swamps. This ride is even more enjoyable if you go on a Hubble boat. But be careful. Remember how Jinnah and Upali got on the boat and ran away. According to the story, Madol Duwa is still a snake plane. So be careful.

Special remark:
  • If you are going to Madol Duwa, go in the morning or in the evening. Then you will have the opportunity to experience the wonders of Madol Duwa without fail.
  • You can walk through all the events of Madol Duwa
  • The route is marked by arrows from the entrance to the island
