Lipton's Seat

Lipton Seat

Description

Lipton's Seat is a narrow peak where three valleys meet. Lipton's Tea Estate is located on the hill between Dambethenna, Bandarawela and Poonagala in Haputale. This place was discovered by Thomas J. Lipton, a Scotsman who introduced the Lipton type of tea. The specialty of this place is that you can see 5 provinces simultaneously from this place. Sabaragamuwa Province, Central Province, Uva Province, Eastern Province, Southern Province. But it has to have luck. Because most of the time this environment is free. Also, when there is no fog in the evening and in the morning, you can see the light of the Devinuwara lighthouse as well as the light of the Thandarikunamalai and Kirinde lighthouses.

This place has a rapidly changing climate and is often shrouded in fog. But if you stay there for a while, you can see unforgettable views of life.

Did you know that Lipton's tea garden was considered by many in England to be the most delicious tea in the world?. Even today,Lipton's name shines at the top of the tea world. Many believe that this is the place where Mr.Thomas Lipton bought the Dambethenna Estate and spent time enjoying its beauty.

Together with Mr.James Taylor, who introduced tea cultivation to Sri Lanka, he later wrote “Sir Thomas J". Lipton took Ceylon tea to Europe. Meanwhile he came to Dambethenna and developed a huge estate there. Around the Lipton Seat is the Mr.Thomas J Lipton Tea Garden. Also, Dambethenna is home to the largest tea factory in Sri Lanka. This Dambatenna estate is 925 acres. When you go to the highest point of this garden you can see a 360 degree view.

History of Lipton's Seat:
About four miles from Lipton's Seat is another beautiful place called Catherine Seat. Catherine is Lipton's married wife. People believe that Catherine went to the 'Catherine Seat' while her husband was having fun with the teenagers at Lipton Place.

It would not be surprising to see this journey through the heavens and the river, seeing the diligent plucking of leaves and the white clouds floating in the blue sky amidst the lush green tea bushes.

This place was discovered by Mr.Thomas J. Lipton, a Scotsman who introduced the Lipton type of tea.

There are two ways to reach this beautiful place located in the Dambethenna Estate.
01. 18km from Haputale via Dambethenna.
02. 6km across the landslide road on the Bandarawela Poonagala road.

Also, when you go to this place by vehicle (except bicycles / three-wheelers) you have to be careful as the road is good but narrow. This is because there is not enough space in many places for two vehicles to exchange.
