Thalpe Beach

Thalpe beach is another beautiful place on the south coast. When you pass Unawatuna and go towards Matara you will find the Talpe area. A few rocky outcrop pools along the Talpe beach have become a major tourist attraction these days. There is nothing better than to dive into these pools that have captivated so many locals and foreigners, even beyond the coast.

These are not naturally created pools. Years ago, the people of this place in the village had built a Squeeze the poles. This is the only place in Sri Lanka where white coconut coir is stale. You can see some of the pools created like that when you come here.

You can bathe here. That's what a lot of people come from. But you have to be careful of the ikirians here. Ikirio was not in these pools, they were on the rock in front. People don't bother because they're stuck. But if we step on them, we can get injured by those cracks in our legs.

If you go beyond this and go swimming in the sea, be careful.because the Talpe beach is a place where local and foreign tourists have drowned in the sea.

How to reach : If you are coming to Matara by bus from Colombo, you can get off at the Talpe Paragon Hotel or near the Thalpe station, walk about 50 meters towards Matara and get to this place by train. You can come here with the GuideMe app
