Ravana Gala



Description

Maskeliya Ravana Gala is a large flat rock plain located at the ground level of Maskeliya in the Nuwara Eliya District in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. According to the villagers, parallel lines about 1 inch deep engraved on the rock plateau are still visible here as the wheel marks of Ravana's flying chariot.

Route:From Maskeliya town take Norton Road towards Laxapana. Then after about 7 km along this road you will come across a small town called Luccumbe. On the Maussakelle Estate, owned by the Maskeliya Plantation Company, a large cement slab is found as you make your way down a narrow road towards the Zion Upper Vision. To reach Ravana Gala you have to walk 4 km on winding plantation roads. If it is difficult to find this route, ask the villagers for help.

Maskeliya is a city in the Central Province, made up of three estates. It is a beautiful city with a very temperate climate rich in water, mountains, and waterfalls. This place is also known as the crash site of the Martinair Flight 138, the worst air disaster in Sri Lanka in 1974. This place is located on the way to visit Sri Padasthanaya (Adam's Peak ). Due to this, it has become a tourist attraction.
